New York: Sterlington, PLLC is pleased to announce that its rigorous process of demonstrating an ongoing and systematic approach to protecting firm and client data has been certified to meet the requirements of the ISO/IEC 27001:2013 standard.
Developed by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is a globally recognized information security standard. ISO/IEC 27001:2013 specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an information security management system within the context of an organization. It also includes requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks tailored to the needs of an organization.
“Sterlington’s ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification is one of the most important information security certifications, as it pertains to secure handling, management, and protection of client and firm data,” said Prashant Warankar, Sterlington’s Chief Technology Officer and Chief Information Security Officer. “I am proud that the independent audit has successfully certified our systems, processes, and security controls against the rigorous assessment criteria. We shall continue to comply with international management standards and frameworks, to grow and earn the trust of all our stakeholders.”
Said Chris Harrison, Sterlington’s CEO and Founder, “Our ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certification is a great milestone for Sterlington as we strive to continually ensure our information technology services and data are secure and efficient for our clients. As we continue on our growth journey, our investments in our people, processes, and technology on behalf of our team members and our clients are integral to our success.”

What will the law firm of the future look like?
Time travellers from 100 years ago would find the modern law firm a curious beast: On the one hand, litigators spend their days preparing pleadings and giving oral argument in court; transactional lawyers spend their days preparing and reviewing contracts, deeds and agreements. Lawyers in 2023 do pretty much the same thing. On the other hand, the way in which that work is carried out is radically different. Law firms are increasingly diverse, and no longer the sole province of the most privileged in society. And instead of doing everything by hand, or dictating to clerical staff, lawyers are expected to be adept with a range of different tech tools.
