Robert Kantowitz is a partner and the Head of Sterlington's Tax Practice, bringing over 40 years of expertise in tax law. Robert’s extensive knowledge spans all facets of federal income tax law, with practical expertise in both U.S. and non-U.S. tax law, including mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and cross-border transactions Throughout his long career, Robert has served as a tax attorney, banker, transaction leader, and product manager, working with renowned global financial institutions and law firms. After first practicing in a law firm setting, Robert transitioned to work in investment banking, capital markets, transaction structuring, and product development for nearly 30 years at prominent banks, such as JP Morgan Chase, Merrill/Bank of America, UBS, and SocGen, where he served as a Managing Director at each. Robert returned to law practice over a decade ago. Robert holds a J.D. from Harvard Law School, where he served as Executive Editor of the Harvard Law Review, an LLM in taxation from New York University Law School, and a master's degree in physics.
